![]() If dead PSU is bad (or mobo is) PSU we test on a bench. Make sure both DC power cables are attached to the mobo 24pin and 4pin colored wires. The test it from dead cold and no power for 24 hours. remove AC power for a day and try the next day.Ī goal of any wise tech with PC that is 100% dead is remove power and wait. If not the PSU may be dead want to bench test it ask for help it is easy to do. Now PC turns on if power button cable did not fall off. Turn on the PC, hear fans run (they were dead before right?) Remove all PCI-e cards, all usb devices, all monitors. Push power button NO AC 3 or more times 5 is plenty this magic act just discharges all caps. Then put in a new fresh RTC coin cell into the mobo socket. Remove all power to the MOBO, FOR 2 ORE MORE HOURS EN301 893 (Applicable to 5GHz high performance RLAN EN300 440-2 (Applicable to non-bluetooth wireless keyboard mouse EN301 489-3 (Applicable to non-bluetooth wireless keyboard mouse Now emachine is not DELL !!, why post owned now emachines here to dell forum but sure ok.to do.,Į (acer actual) shows H series PCs there. Then the HDD0- boots, of not bad or corrupted OS. (to hdd0 boot or ssd0 boot as the case may be.) Then set the boot order correctly inside BIOS and named as such. ![]() Then reset bios, using page 1 of said BIOS What all wise techs do is test the battery, with a voltmeter. We can talk RTC batteries all day and things related. just like going in to BIOS and clicking BIOS defaults same thing. Yes removing any CMOS RTC battery (AC cord pulled) will cause the BIOS to self reset. That is how all PCs work for 40 years, now. When the CMOS battery is dead, the NVram scrambles and THAT makes BIOS go nuts, no exceptions. That magic diode blocks reverse current flow. steps 1,2,3,4, Īlso never does any CMOS battery ever drain the power rails ever, see that diode connected to the battery. Those CMOS RTC batteries only last 7 years maxĪnd the 1/2 that if PC is in abox on the shelf in storage.Īlso if the PC gets ESD or Lightning surge or owners go mad and hot swaps parts inside,(BOOM)Īnd doing the hard reset fixes it. Hello hyjacker John, why no start your own post with your facts not others. (I checked the possibility of a bad power button on the case by trying to short across the pins it attached to with a small screwdriver, but that wouldn't make it power on either.) ![]() Apparently, this board is prone to dying off in this manner. I finally determined it was a bad motherboard, too. won't power on at all, but a small green light is on, on the board itself, whenever the PC is plugged into the AC outlet. I was just working on an eMachines mini-tower for a friend that has this same e210882 Intel motherboard in it. No obvious signs of blown chips or burnt circuit board anywhere. Power supply, Hardrive and DVD drive were OK as were PCI cards tested by installing in another E210882 system. Replaced power supply and unplugged all cards w/ no change. Green led on motherboard is lit now but all power off to drives. Unit was disconnected from power but still connected to DSL line. Unit will not even try to start?
